Emergency Preparedness
Emergency Preparedness Committee

Early in 2010, the POA Board created the Hurricane & Emergency Preparedness Committee to provide our community with a group of individuals that could respond and interact with our residents in the event of a tropical storm or emergency affecting our area.

To achieve a neighbor to neighbor concept, the committee divided the YCC community into twelve zones of approximately 50 homes each. In each of these zones, several volunteers have come forward as coordinators who make house to house visits to inform residents of the process and efforts being done in conjunction with the YCC Security force and their emergency program. CLICK HERE for the community zone map.

Some of the issues that are being addressed are:
1.  The vacant house, and how we could reach the absentee owners
2.  Homes under construction - ensuring no flying objects
2.  Evacuation, and who would help if necessary
3.  Medications that require refrigeration and coordinating those with generators to help maintain medications.

In essence, it is a neighbor to neighbor volunteer support group to which you could contact for help in emergencies.

It was inspiring to me to see how many people were willing to donate their time, and in many cases their homes, to achieve our emergency preparedness goals.
The Emergency Preparedness Committee, a new support and neighborhood action group with the goal of neighbor helping neighbor seeks your input in how we can serve the YCC community better. If you have suggestions or would like to join our group, please contact me.
